Dear colleagues,

The ONF Open Information Modeling & Tooling (OIMT) project would like to share with ITU-T SG15 and MEF the ONF TR-512 v1.4-info release. This release has been approved by the OIMT Technical Steering Team (TST).

ONF appreciates the close collaboration with ITU-T SG15 and MEF in the development of the TR-512 CoreModel and would like to thank ITU-T SG15 and MEF again for their continuous valuable input and the active participation of many individual experts in the ONF OIMT, OTCC TAPI, OT-IM and IISOMI discussions.

The TR-512 v1.4-info release documents (.pdf, .docx etc.) and UML model files are open source. You are free to incorporate them in whole or in part in your stanadards provided that the source of the material is identified.

The ONF TR-512 v1.4-info release is contained in a zip file that is publicly avaialble on the ONF web site https://www.opennetworking.org/software-defined-standards/models-apis/ under the “PROJECT: INFORMATION MODELING” tab.

The zip file consists of the following:

-           a ReadMe.txt file

-           a TR-512.1_OnfCoreIm-Overview.pdf file

-           a ModelDescription folder, which contains a suite of model description .pdf documents

-           a OnfModel folder, which contains the Papyrus UML model files and Profile files

-           an UmlFigures folder, which contains the PNG images of the figures being used in the description documents

The source MS Word documents that generate the .pdf are available at xxxx .

Provided in the annex of this liaison statement is a summary of updates of TR-512 from v1.3.1 to v1.4.

ANNEX

Summary of major updates from v1.3.1 to v1.4

  • Addition of Simplified Introduction section to this document (see section 2.7 Key Model Classes on page 27).
  • Additional explanation to account for monitoring and overhead of media network (TR-512.2). There has also been:
    • Addition of the PHOTONIC_MEDIA LayerProtocol string literal
    • Extension of layerProtocol to include a qualifier (relevant to both OTN and photonic-media)
  • Addition of explanatory figure to show topology in a deep non-intrusive monitoring context (TR-512.4)
  • Addition of description to the attributes and promotion to some model artifacts of the Physical model in TR-512.6)
  • Enhancement to Forwarding Spec and Termination Spec to cater for the photonic model (TR-512.7)
    • The model now allows a recursion of specification of FCs inside LP and LPs inside FCs
  • Enhancements to the model of Control to improve consistency with other parts of the model and addition of representation of the operations on the ControlConstruct (TR-512.8)
    • The new work builds a bridge between the model of Control and the Operations model in TR-512.10
  • Addition of the Software model (new TR-512.12) and examples (new TR-512.A.13)
  • Refinement and further development to the Component-System pattern (TR-512.A.2)
  • Addition of new sections to TR-512.A.4 (new section 4 on L0 monitoring and overhead, section 5 on Relationship between L0 functional and physical, section 6 on photonic cases)
  • Addition of the Packet switched examples (new TR-512.A.6)
