ROADM Path Profile

Andrea Mazzini, in a recent RIA review session it was considered that the current ROADM Path Impairment model seems not in line with TAPI general modeling approach, because:

  • "ROADM" is not a TAPI concept, there is neither a "ROADM" object nor a "ROADM" characterization of a TAPI Node.
  • "Path" term is used with a different meaning in TAPI.

After some discussion, it is preliminary agreed that:

  • A single profile, named ConnectivityImpairmentProfile, will replace the currently defined RoadmAddPath, RoadmDropPath and RoadmExpressPath, with the superset of all their attributes.
  • Whether a ConnectivityImpairmentProfile instance applies to add / drop / express potential connectivity is specified through the appropriate organization of NodeRuleGroup and InterRuleGroup instances.
    • The detailed specification of how to organize NodeRuleGroup and InterRuleGroup instances will be provided in the related RIA UC.

Ramon Casellas notes that the currently defined FixedGainAmplification has the gainRange attribute, which seems not appropriate if the gain is fixed.

After some discussion, it is preliminary agreed that:

  • A single profile, named AmplificationProfile, will replace the currently defined FixedGainAmplification and VariableGainAmplification.
    • In case of fixed gain, then the minGain and maxGain of gainRange will have the same (or very similar) values.
    • noiseFigureMin and noiseFigureMax, replace with unique noiseFigureRange to align to commonly used "range" type style.
    • pMax, rename to maxPower.
    • Add the extendedGainRange. Description will be provided.
