About the team

The Community Steering Team is responsible for the care and feeding of the overall ONF community and the projects inside of it including ONOS and CORD. This team will be responsible to make sure the community has what it needs to function effectively. That may include:

  • proactively checking in with members to see what can be improved

  • starting projects and initiatives to improve the community

  • providing a structured way to handle conflict in the community

  • making sure communication tools work well for the community

  • owning the onboarding process for community members

  • actively discovering and recognizing activities happening in the community

The team will operate based on a set of first principles about what they believe makes for a healthy and effective open source community.

Joining the team

Membership in this Community Steering Team is open to anyone who is interested in growing and strengthening the ONF community and wants to take part in driving projects forward to support the community.  Please join a meeting or use the contact information below to reach out if you are interested in taking part.  To get involved, subscribe to the Community team mailing list and dial-in to the monthly CST calls (details below).

Roles and Responsibilities

Membership in the CST is open to anyone, although we do ask people to commit to being actively involved in discussions and projects that support the community.  Joining the calls and taking part in discussions there is one way to do that.  If you can't make the calls, taking part in discussions on the community-team mailing list is another way to participate.  These meetings and the mailing list are open forums, so please suggest topics and drive projects that you think are important for the community.

Recurring Meetings

  • Times: We're hosting two meetings at different times to be as inclusive as possible to the worldwide ONOS community – the topics are the same so join either the European-friendly or Asian-friendly meeting that works best for your schedule
  • Dial-in: We're using Uberconference and you can join on your computer or can call in on phone
  • Calendar: You can see this meeting and add it to your calendar on our public ONOS Meetings page
Agenda: The CST meetings are divided in half – we start with updates and community projects and then spend time on one or two discussions topics.  The meetings are an open forum, so feel free to edit the wiki to add your add items to an agenda for an upcoming call.

Discussion Topics

  • Format of this meeting -- would it be better to have a more active online discussion using the mailing list?  That would help be more inclusive of people who can’t attend these meetings because of time zones or other conflicts

  • If so, where do want to hold the discussion?  The ONOS Community Team mailing list isn’t very active and also not representative anymore since the community has grown to include CORD and ONF projects.  Do we want a new ONF community list?
